How Golf Courses Can Make Golf Accessible

Love Golf?  Stand Up and Play Foundation Gets People Into the Swing of Things!

Perhaps the Paramobile or Paragolfer wheelchair is something you already know about, but it's new to me. While touring through Pinterest, I came across an article from a few years ago then did a little more digging around to see what else I could find on this topic.

In the video below, you can see how the Paragolfer chair appears to be a lot sturdier and less tippy than these stand up electric wheelchairs on eBay

Places Where You Can Use a Paramobile for Free

The Stand Up and Play Foundation says it is established to help people around the world be able to stand up and play golf. While most of the information on their website seems to be about the United States, This video shows a tournament was held in British Columbia Canada a few years ago where the Paragolfer was highlighted.

Wisconsin Stand Up and Play Branch Offers Free Paramobile Use!

When Karen Ellenbecker, founder of the Ellenbecker Investment Group, saw Andy Meier playing golf using a Paramobile at her local golf club, she asked him about it.
She was so moved by Meier's story that she purchased three Paramobiles and founded the Wisconsin chapter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation, which has 21 chapters in 12 states. Anyone in southeastern Wisconsin who is confined to a wheelchair can use a Paramobile through the Stand Up and Play Foundation free of charge for a variety of activities such as golf, trapshooting, archery, fishing and social events. A volunteer is assigned to teach the person how to use the machine. Those who are interested in using a Paramobile or volunteering should call Stroud at (262) 695-8414 or email him at jeffs@standupandplay.org.
